Iconic 250 km ice road connecting Fort McMurray to Fort Chipewyan (Alberta"s oldest European settlement, est. 1788). 4WD recommended. Open approx. 3 months in winter. Passes through boreal wilderness with moose, fox & wildlife. Fort Chipewyan is the gateway to Wood Buffalo National Park. Operated/maintained by RMWB.
