The Athlete Performance Lab is a high-impact summer training program for youth ages 11 and older, designed to develop the complete athlete. Through expert-led strength and conditioning, mental performance coaching, nutrition education, and cross-training with local sport organizations, participants will level up their physical and mental game—on and off the field.

Program Details:

Duration: 3 sessions a week for 7 weeks | July 8 - August 21

Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 am.- 10:00 am

Format: 1 hour strength & conditioning/sport specific movements, and 1 hour of sport science (nutrition, mental training, recovery, etc.)

Cost: $299.00 | works out to be only $7 per hour!

Registration Includes: 21 Sessions (42 hours of training), Journal, APL T-Shirt

Ages: 11+

Location: Corless Field (beside Composite High School)

Note: If the weather does not allow for outdoor training (air quality index 7+ or raining), we will shift the session to take place in the Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre. A notification will be given the night before if possible but most certainly first thing in the morning before the session begins.

MEET KEVIN SAMUELS

WBSC Sport Development Coordinator and Your APL Strength & Conditioning Coach

Originally from Toronto, Kevin moved back to Fort McMurray early this year from Calgary to help shape and develop the future of Fort McMurray sport. Kevin holds an Exercise Science Diploma from Keyano College and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Lethbridge. Throughout his academic journey, Kevin competed at a high level in multiple sports, including soccer with the Keyano Huskies, Track and Field with the University of Lethbridge, and Football with the Westshore Rebels/Monarchs.

Kevin brings over 10 years of expertise in the field of high-performance training, biomechanics, and chronic health rehabilitation using exercise. He is particularly passionate about the proactive approach to mental health and physical health, offering personalized solutions with the help of a multidisciplinary team. From youth athletes to Olympic athletes, Kevin has worked with individuals at every level.

Kevin is no stranger when it comes to non-profit organizations. In 2014, he was a part of Dancing with the Stars Wood Buffalo and Catwalk where he danced to help collectively raise over $92,000 for the Fort McMurray SPCA. Kevin also spent over 250 hours volunteering at The Mustard Seed Shelter in Calgary helping individuals who did not have access to allied healthcare through exercise.
