Coach Alberta

Coach Alberta was founded to support, connect, develop, inform and advocate for coaches in Alberta. It is run by a small group of volunteers who are passionate about coaching and improving sport performance in Alberta.

The organization is geared to improve interaction, cross-sport pollination, mentoring opportunities and coach education events/opportunities to move coaches to a higher level of competency.

Coach Alberta helps with grants and funding, becoming a coach, and coaching certification processes. It also offers a number of written, video and online resources for coaches.

School Coach

The Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association and School Sport Canada have launched their latest online coaching resources. Coaching Volleyball Fundamentals and Coaching Basketball Fundamentals are now available on SchoolCoach.ca, joining nine other currently available online coaching courses offered through that website – a learning management system made available by School Sport Canada and the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association.

Physical Education Canada

A new resource from Physical & Health Education Canada is now available. Entitled "Move Think Learn" the resource helps educators introduce students to nine games and sport activities that build physical literacy. The sport activities highlighted in the resource includes Archery, Badminton, Squash, Softball,
Ringette, Soccer, Canoe/Kayak, and Cycling. The resource is available to download now.

 

 

SCORE

SCORE (Sport Cpnnect and Respect) is a program of 10 lessons designed to join a deliberate approach to youth development and sport participation. This program aims to develop 4 main areas of sport development: confidence, competence, connection, and character. The program is based on research in sport psychology and youth development. The SCORE program also works to make information accessible to everyone by using technology to deliver the lessons and make it as simple as possible to get the information you need.
