In September 2024 we hosted our first Girls with Grit Sport Summit- a two-day event aimed at empowering girls through sport participation. By age 14, girls drop out of sport at twice the rate of boys the same age (Women’s Sport Foundation). At the Wood Buffalo Sport Connection, we want to work towards changing this by providing young females with the opportunity to feel like rock stars, and build them up so they feel confident trying new sports and working towards being active for life.  Find our 2024 Event Impact Report and Summary at the bottom of the page!

2025 Summit: June 14 and 15 @ MacDonald Island Park!

This year we will open the summit to females ages 8-13. Thanks to funding provided by Kidsport, we can offer a very low registration fee of $25 per participant. Your registration includes the opportunity to take part in two days of fun and play that will include a dynamic opening ceremony by Alberta's Hula Hoop Circus, a powerful group session led by Heartspark, as well as 6 sessions over the two days, one of which will be a conversation led by Girls Inc on positive talk and how to deal with bullying in sport. Participants will also receive a t-shirt, lunch both days, a welcome gift and a free ticket to the Oil Giants home game on Sunday June 15!
